LF Commemorates the Armenian Genocide
Aztag Daily reports that The Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea paid tribute to the 1.5 Million Armenian Martyrs in a speech during the ceremony held in his Mount Lebanon residence at Maarab. Geagea expressed his sympathy “April 24, 1915 is not just another day… Humanity was stabbed with the dagger of cruelty,” adding “Our cause is one,” “Armenians struggled for a free Armenia, and so did the Lebanese.” reminding that the anniversary nearly coincides with the 23rd anniversary of his detention.
Tourism Minister Avedis Guidanian, Women’s Rights Minister Jean Oghasabian, ARF Lebanon Representative MP Hagop Pakradouni, in addition to MPs Sebouh Kalpakian and Shant Chinchinian were present among Lebanese MPs, Religous, Political, Cultural, Social figures; in addition to, the Armenian Ambassador Samuel Mkrtchyan.
The event started with a recorded message by His Holiness Aram I Catholicos of the House of the holy Sea of Cilicia, followed by Rudolf Kouyoumjian, Avedis Dakesian, Sebouh Kalpakian and Hagop Pakradouni.
Hagop Pakradouni reminded that the Lebanese people were also victims of the Ottoman atrocities and demanded to know why the 6th of May has been changed from Martyrs Day (victims of the Ottomans) to Martyrs of the Press Day.
