Armenia headed to the 2018 21st FIFA WorldCup in Russia

The Armenian national football team won their second game in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification in Group E.

Armenia won as Manchester United forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan and right winger for Turkish club Beşiktaş Aras Ozbiliz scored them a 2-0 with their second-half goals in Yerevan against Kazakhstan.
Mkhitaryan scored in the 73rd minute and Ozbiliz added a second goal two minutes later.

The Starting 11 of the Armenian National team was Voskanyan,Haroyan, Andonian,Hayrapetyan, Mkhitaryan, Malakyan, Pizzelli who Substituted for Manucharyan at 65’minutes, Hovhannisyan, Sarkisov who 28 mins Substituted for Özbiliz at 70’minutes, Ghazaryan who Substituted for Barseghyan at 5th minute.

Armenia Team Matches

The group consists of six teams: Romania, Denmark, Poland, Montenegro, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. Armenia ranks 5th with 6 points only one point behind the second Montenegro. Armenia’s 6 points came from two wins against Kazakhstan and Montenegro and lost points against Denmark, Romania and Poland.

The 1st two teams will automatically qualify to the 21st FIFA Worldcup , that will be held next year in Russia.

Armenia will be facing Montenegro away on the 10th of June, Romania away on the 1st of September, Denmark in Yerevan on September 4th , as well as Poland in Yerevan on October 5th, and Kazakhstan away on the 8th of October.

So far the group leaders are Poland with 13 points and Montenegro with 7 points, the chance for us to see the Armenian Tricolor Flag in the 21st FIFA World Cup in Russia is closer than ever if we continue with our experienced players who have already become stars in international arenas.

The coach

Artur Petrosyan coaches the  Armenian team since 2016 and so far the team has played and won two matches together. Petrosyan started managing the team following Varuzhan Sukiasyan’s resignation after three straight defeats at the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. Petrosyan is regarded as one of Armenia’s finest players, capped 69 times and scoring 11 goals for his country. He also played for clubs in Armenia, Israel, Russia and Switzerland. During his first years as a coach he worked as an assistant for FC Zurich.
